Hello again!

I have been busy crafting up a storm in between renovations on the house. The latest thing I've been wanting to show you is a bag I made for my dear friend in Scotland, Glynis. It was for her 50th Birthday, and now that she has received it, I'm free to show it on here (I didn't want to spoil the suprise for her) It is made up of Quilt as you go hexagons, and all totally hand sewn, well except for the handles that is, THEY caused me grief untill I figured out how to put them on! A new baby to love.

I have been busy the last few weeks crocheting baby blankets for friends who are expecting, gosh seems like EVERYONE is having babies these days...must be something in the water! LOL. Well this blanket was made for a good friend of mine, who had a beautiful baby girl a few weeks ago, It was frustrating for me because my friend was quite stubborn and wouldnt tell anyone the sex of the child!! LOL, so I had to compromise with the middle, and then once bubba was born I very quickly added the fluffy pink and white border. The border is made from chenile wool, so it is sooo soft! My friend was very pleased with the blanket and I must say in the end so was I. Until next time XOXOX

Aren't these things the BEST thing ever!!?? I bought the latest "Creative" magazine and when I seen these I couldnt resist making one...well I've made HEAPS so far, they are just so "do-able" and such a great idea! I've made them in every colour you can imagine and they look wonderful in the varigated wools that are around at the moment. I love the way the actually "wrap" around the book at the page you are up to, so it is hard for you to loose your place, unlike other bookmarks that just seem to fall out so easily. As you can also see I'm reading the Twilight Series at the moment and am totally addicted!! =)

GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok this is my THIRD attempt at posting this and if it doesnt work Im going to SCREAM!! Hi everyone,
well we have been so busy with the renovations on the house, but for some strange reason it feels like we havent really gotten anywhere??
One wonderful thing that has come out of all the commotion in the house however, is that my darling hubby has finally helped to make one of the spare rooms into my very own craft room!! I am sooo excited over this! I will post photos soon, I am in the process of finding space on the shelves for all of my "toys". I think more shelves are needed, although darling hubby would say a cleanout is needed more hehehe.

I'm home at last!

Hi everyone!

I want to apologise to all for going missing for a while, and thank those that have been popping in to see if I've blogged again. The reason for my going missing is because my hubby and I have moved back to our little country cottage in Hay NSW. We bought this house around five years ago, and have been very slowly renovating it. This house has a beautiful homely feel to it and I'm always happiest when I'm here.

We had moved back to Sydney for a while due to health problems and a son who is very talented in rugby league who made it to a junior "big league" team. Once my son was settled into his "own" life and my health problems got under control, we decided it was time to come "home". So here we are! And with my wood heater burning beside me as we speak, I've never felt more content. Even though my hubby will be literally putting up new walls around me as I type and create, I am happy. I cant wait until my very own craft studio is completed, and I am able to create in peace! Now....where did I pack my sewing machine???

I was very impressed with this round frame I picked up on special at Spotlight. I knew I'd eventually find something to put into it! LOL. I had the redwork stitchery sitting around for a while and found that it fitted into this nicely! I was very impressed, I must say LOL. I adore anything with a hint of folk art style, and the birdhouses are a very big part of this for me. I dream of having a house where I can fill the backyard up with lots of bird houses like this. Maybe one day.....

I made these stitcheries for my sister when she bought her first home. Veronica is very well known for her 'dislike' of cooking LOL, so I thought these kitchen themed pictures would suit her well!! ;) She didn't want them made into wallhangings, and chose to have them framed instead. I think they suit her personality very well!.

I believe that wallhangings make a house a home. I love the look of them hanging up on a wall. Here are a few I have made over the years, most of them with simple stitching, and some with a few charms and buttons added for good measure. I have made a few more, but they have been kidnapped LOL, so I'll have to hunt them down and take photos of them! They are so simple to make, but add so much charm.

My First Ever Quilt!

I made this, my first quilt. with a lot of help from a lady who was teaching a few of us ladies how to quilt in her home (Thank you Simone). I'm so lucky she was a good teacher, who didn't mind sharing her skills with us. Isn't it wonderful how most crafty people are like that, and love sharing their knowledge with us! This quilt is machine stitched, with hand embroidery and hand quilting! Gosh I had sore fingers after it was finished! hehehe. I still adore this quilt, and the colours in it are some of my favourites. I feel drawn towards 'country' colours, especially burgandy and mustard. This quilt takes pride of place on my lounge where I can see it every day.

My Shaggy Raggy Quilt

This quilt is so easy to make, and it seems to be a favourite with a lot of people. I love the shaggy edges and how it looks better over time the more times you wash it and throw it in the dryer! So easy to care for, and it's the sort of quilt you don't mind people using and abusing LOL. I plan on making a LOT more of these in the future. The colour possibilities are endless, and I feel the style is suitable for a male or female. Its a really good way to use up your stash! Just be sure that your wadding is smaller than your backing and front materials, otherwise you'll come into trouble when snipping all around the edges....DON'T ask me how I know!! hehehe

A Birthday Quilt.

After years of sitting in my UFO pile, this quilt was finished just in time for my eldest daughter's twenty fourth birthday! She loved it so much, and uses it all of the time now! I love seeing her all snuggled up under it. It is hand tied because I ran out of time to do the hand quilting LOL. I love the different tie-dyed fabrics that are in it, and I'm happy that it went to a good home.

A Sister's Love Cushion

I made this cushion for my sister a few years ago, I think it was a gift for Christmas? Anyways, I adore the saying! It's very suitable for our relationship! LOL. We love each other so much, but as you all know, sister's can sometimes get on your nerves! :) But at the end of the day, we both would be lost without each other. Since I gave it to her, a few buttons and charms have been pulled off by her younger children, but overall it's still in good condition. Not sure if you can read the writing, but it says: "I smile because you are my sister, I laugh because there's nothing you can do about it" :)

More Cushions!

I seem to have a whole collection of cushions now! I think it is because they are just so easy to make... I really enjoy Redwork, but dont only do it in red! I enjoy using different colours too. I find if I have a few embroidery panels ready to stitch, then I can get to them when I have some time, and then once they are all done, I turn them into cushions all in one day. I enjoy making things that are practical, as well as pretty, so I think that's why most of my stitcherys turn out this way.

Candlewicking

I adore this form of embroidery! Such amazing results are obtainable with such little effort...my style of craft! LOL. This is actually my first attempt at making a candlewick cushion, I think it turned out quite well. My daughter Eli (13yrs) was watching me sew it with lots of interest, and now I know why...as soon as it was finished, she whisked it off to her room, and there it has sat on her bed ever since!! I love it when people love my craft.

Heart Cushion

This is a little cushion I made for my sister's birthday. Veronica is my only sister, so she gets a little spoilt with my handmade goodies LOL. She is always claiming them, so much so that I hardly have any work in my own home!! But I enjoy seeing her happy, and my goodies seem to make her so. It is just made with applique hearts and fringe beading, so simple, but very effective I believe!

Isn't she adorable?? I made this beautiful girl with MUCH hesitation as it was my first attempt at making a cloth doll. I was very picky with the material used as I wanted it to look exactly like the one in the magazine I was making it from. So please with myself over her, she DOES look exactly as I wanted LOL. I had no problems at all with the actual doll and hair itself, but the dress was a whole different story!! I must have pulled it apart and restarted it at least five times! Talk about frustrating LOL.

Anyways, I'm glad I kept at it because she was well worth it!

Im a member of an online crazy quilting group and we had an ATC swap! I enjoyed making them so much I started making them for myself! LOL I enjoy the process of putting these together and enjoy the fact that they dont take too long to complete. They are beautiful works of art and swapping them with others is so much fun!

I really enjoyed seeing the different ways people made them, the varity is endless.

Oh My GOSH I have a Blog!!

Hello everyone!
I have been a blog surfer for so many years and have always admired other peoples blogs for so long with a hint of envy, because I never thought in a million years I'd be able to have one! I didnt thing I'd be up to it technically! LOL

I was surfing a some blogs this morning and quite by chance I saw a "make your own" button! so I clicked on it and here we are!! Gosh I'm so suprised and sitting here with a HUGE smile on my face! It was so easy and the hardest part of it all was choosing the name LOL.

I will do my best to update and make this a fun place to be so WATCH THIS SPACE.....
